Description

Proposal for the contest organized by Metro de Madrid for the new logo on the occasion of its centenary.

1. Concept. Introduction

This is an idea of minimalist style, which uses (not counting the text) only two elements: the blue triangle and the red circle.

It maintains both colors from the current logo, but with a different shade.

The font used is quite similar to the one on the existing image of Metro de Madrid and is white in color to be perfectly readable.

The triangle arises from the diamond-shaped base of the current logo.

It has rounded points instead of straight ones and gives shapes a feeling of trust and security rather than certain harshness or aggressiveness.

It represents an arrow pointing to the right and conveys direction and movement.

On the other hand, the circle symbolizes the destination point or the entrance to a tunnel.
Both elements are very simple and easy to identify and remember, as they are basic geometric figures.

The chosen typography is Roboto. The bold variant for the word "Metro" and the light variant for "100º".

It is sans-serif and, as mentioned in the introduction, is perfectly legible at both large and small sizes.

1.2. Concept. Colors

Whether on a white background or light shades such as black or dark tones, the logo remains the same.

If it appears on a background of the same blue as the logo itself or another color within a similar range, a white outline is added to it. The same would apply in the case of red.

2. Applications. Vinyl signage and graphics

Various examples of material in physical format to see how it could be applied in the real world.
